Lost in the electronic wasteland

Posted by Alan Young

Since the 1990’s, a disturbing minority of people have been lost in the electronic “world.” (See the study done at West Chester University) These are the people who prefer their online “lives” to living in the real world. AIs make the matter worse. At least before when people did reprehensible acts online (violent or sexual) they at least did them with other humans. But now, when someone goes online for their fix of sex or violence, it’s possible their “partner” may just be a computer program that mimics a human.

Bleeding heart liberals love pointing to the despicable movie AIme as “proof” that love – even for a machine – is still love. But we have names for people who are in love with things like … desks – perverts. With so many people already lost in the electronic wilderness, it’s frightening to think how much further they will fall due to AIs.

  1. Just wanted to drop by and tell you what good works you all are doing. I never saw "AIme" but I've only heard bad things about it.
